More Fun with Makeup!

Hey guys!

A few days ago I posted about the amazing art of makeup. Within that post, I added a picture that I had found on Pinterest of some Avenger inspired eye makeup. Well, the other day one of my friends and I actually sat down and did some of the looks on each other!

 Captain America

 Iron Man

 Hulk

 The Black Widow

We had SO much fun doing them! It took quite a bit of makeup remover to get it all off, but it was so totally worth it!

I’m not sure why, but I am really enjoying watching all of the Avenger movies. I’m not usually and action movie fan. Too much fighting, not enough (or any) story line. But the Avengers are different than most action movies. (Except for Thor, which, if it wasn’t for the fact that the main actor is kinda gorgeous, would be a kind of lame movie.)

What are some of your favorite movies? I am always on the look out for good movies to see. Please feel free to leave a comment!

Hope you all have an awesome beginning of your week!

Tiny Cards

Hey guys! Sorry I haven’t been on in a bit. It seams like the time is just flying on by! I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is exactly one week away!

What would you like to do for Thanksgiving? Note: I said what “would you like” to do for Thanksgiving. Not what “do” you do. Would you like to go to Disneyland? Go on a vacation to the snow? Stay at home in your PJs for a week? 🙂

So I started my new job about a week ago now! I am absolutely LOVING it! I will be working black Friday, so if any of you live in the Northern CA area, and like to go to the Galleria mall in Roseville, please feel free to stop by and say hi!

I’ve never gone black Friday shopping before, and now I will be working it! It should be very interesting. 🙂 I am very curious to see how I do. I’m usually not a night (or VERY early morning in this case) person. It should be fun! 🙂

Speaking of my job, there are two girls this week with birthdays. So I wanted to make them birthday cards. But what do you say to a person you’ve only know for a few days, and have only spoken to for a few minutes?

So I got the idea of making tiny cards!

I took a 3″ by 5″ note card, folded it in half, and turned it into a tiny birthday card! That way I don’t have to write too much in it, because there isn’t a whole lot of room. 🙂

And I think they turned out pretty cute!

I shall be pretty busy over the weekend, so I might not get a chance to post again till Monday. But I will be back!

Hope all you guys have a nice weekend! Bye! 🙂

Poetry

Hey guys! How is your November going? Thanksgiving is just a few days away, and then . . . Christmas! HArd to believe that it’s that time of year again. Didn’t we just do these same holidays a few weeks ago?

As we’ve seen from previous posts, art can come in many shape and sizes (literally and figuratively). 🙂

So, I thought for todays post, we could focus on the beauty art of poetry!

The Road Not Taken

By Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

This ^ is one of the poems that I’ve memorized. My mom and I used to read a lot of poetry together. Every few weeks we would try and learn a new poem. The Road Not Taken, was one of the first poems we memorized. And to this day, I can still recite it from memory!

Not all poems are serious however. Here is a cute/fun one!

Bark Bark

By Karen Jo Shapiro

Bark, Bark! It’s dark!
I wake before it’s dawn,
while all the people in this house
sleep on and on and on.
I don’t know why they sleep so long –
I sing a little doggie song:
“Bark, Bark.” The park. Please walk me in the park.”
I lick their feet and jump on beds.
I nuzzle up beside their heads.
And when they open up their eyes,
I bark, “Get up! It’s time to rise!”
I personally have never been one to come up with the words for a poem, but I love to read, and recite poems.
What/who are some of your favorite poems/poets? I would love to hear about them!
Hope you guys are having a great day!

Art with Words

Most people have heard of calligraphy before. Basically, it’s the art of making letters pretty.

For example:

I had to borrow this picture from Pinterest because I personally have a very hard time with this particular style of writing. It’s a little to precise I think for my brain. Ha ha ha. 🙂

But there are other ways of making letters pretty! Some more ‘think outside of the box’ ones.

Here are some of mine. 🙂

Backyard

I guess pretty isn’t the right word. Cool, fun, wild-and-crazy, would probably be better words to describe mine. 🙂

What I have done above ^ is called ‘letter art’.

A few years ago I was really into letter art. I haven’t really done much of it lately. But I found these pictures in one of my old sketch books and thought that they looks pretty cool!

It’s so cool how you can take something basic, like the alphabet, and turn it into art! Just by using some different colors, or different style or writing.

The Art of Makeup

Hello folks!

I don’t have any new art work for today, but I do want to share with you how cool playing with different styles of makeup can be!

I am currently working for a makeup/skin care/fragrance store. (My first day of “on the floor” training was yesterday. I “officially” start tomorrow! Even though it’s only seasonal, I am SO excited!!) And this morning I was thinking about different ways I can do my makeup to really make it pop. My mom go me this book called ‘Eye Candy’

(You can find this book on Amazon. Heres the link.) http://www.amazon.com/Eye-Candy-Makeup-Luscious-Lashes

There are some absolutely amazingly cool ideas of what to do with you eye makeup in this book! A lot of if is kind of over the top, but you can scale it down to look more “normal”. 🙂 And it’s cool cause it goes through step by step of what you need to do to create every look in the book. 🙂

I was also looking on Pinterest (the #1 place to go to for just about anything creative.) 🙂 And found some pretty cool stuff!

For you Avenger fans out there. 🙂

Obviously I wouldn’t actually wear any of those looks to work. But they just looked something to do for fun. 🙂

Isn’t it cool how makeup, is just another forum of art? Wether you are just doing your normal day time makeup.

Or you want to do something for an evening out.

Or if you just want to go all wild and crazy!

Did you know that makeup like the one above ^, is called “avant-garde”? It’s a French term used to refer to people or works that are experimental or innovative. Espally when related to with art and culture, and politics. (Copied from wiki. I knew what avant-garde meant, I just wasn’t sure how to word it. Yeah for wiki!) 🙂

Anyway, hope you found that little tin bit of info interesting! And I will see y’ll again in a day or two!

If you any thoughts on the art of makeup, please feel free to leave a post!

So the other day my mom and I went to TWO new art supply stores. (New to us at least.) I was like a kid in a candy store! So many brushes, pens, canvases, pallets, paper, you get the idea. 🙂

Anyway, by the end of the day I ended up with three new brushes, three new pens, and three new canvases. And I totally didn’t realize that I got three of everything till just this very second. 🙂

So of corse, like any self-respecting artist, the minute I got home I wanted to do some art!

Even thought my elephant challenge is over, the one thing that kept on coming to mind was another elephant. I guess that’s what happens after spending ten days of thinking about different ways to draw/paint an elephant. They kinda get stuck on your brain. 🙂

Anyway, I did the one above with acrylics. Mainly because two of my new brushes were made for acrylics. 🙂

Do any of you know why you can’t shouldn’t mix brushes with other paints? I was trying to figure out why I can’t just use my watercolor brushes for acrylics. And via-versa. I tried googling it, (good old google) 🙂 and found out that I can used acrylic brushes with oil paints, but not the other way around. (Same went for watercolor brushes with oil paints.) And that in a pinch, you can use watercolor brushes with acrylics, but it’s not recommend. But I couldn’t find out why! Does it have something to do with the hair? Or the way it’s made? If any of you guys know, please leave me a comment explaining!

Good news guys! I just got a call from my new job, my first day of work is tomorrow!! So excited, I can’t wait!

Hope y’ll have a great day! Bye!

Last day of Ten Day Trunk Challenge

We did it! Ten days with ten new elephant pictures! I’m actually kinda sad that it’s over now. It was a really great way to make me make time to do art.

Here ^ is the final picture for this particular  challenge. Once again, I was wild and crazy and used acrylic paint, and on an actual canvas! The canvas in only 2″x3″, so pretty small. Note to self;  you don’t need nearly as much paint on a small canvas compared to a bigger pice of paper. 🙂

Did you know that when a baby elephant is born, that it already weights about 250 pounds? It uses it’s truck to feel it’s way around, like a blind person would with a cane. Also, elephants travel in groups. Sometimes up to 50 elephants can be in just one group! The female elephants help each other out with “babysitting” duties. If a baby elephant wonders too far away from the group, one of the female will guid it back with her trunk. 🙂

I’m not really sure what I will do next. Another art challenge maybe? Or I might try and tackle some of the amazing things that I’ve posted on Pinterest. Ha ha ha! Got any ideas for me? Feel free to let me know! 🙂

Thank you guys so much for following me. If it weren’t for you, this blog would be kinda pointless. 🙂
