Creative Dog-Sitting Time

Hey guys! Sorry my posts have been kind of sporadic lately. I will try to get back on a more consistent schedule.  🙂

Right now I am house sitting for some friends of mine who are out of town. They have two adorable little white fluffy doggies. 🙂

The one with the sweater, his name is Doodles. (Also know as: Doo, Doodle bug, and Sir Doodle Puff.) The other one, her name is Laci. (Also known as: Lac, Laci Face, and Pretty.) 🙂

Laci and my dog Einstein, are best friends.

I love my baby boy. 🙂 My parents gave me Einstein for my 12 birthday. And he has been a very important member of our family ever since.

Well like I said above, I am house sitting the 2 fluffily white dogs for a few days. I have been using this “alone” time (how can you be truly alone when you have to doggies who want you attention all the time?) to be creative!

I brought with me my sketch book, some card making stuff, and some yarn. Mostly I’ve been drawing. Well, I say drawing, but what I really mean is mindless doodling. (In no way connected to the dog Doodles.) 🙂

So far, the only thing I’ve really (mostly) completed is this.

Getting into the Christmas spirit!

Hope you all have a great day!

Christmas Decorations

Hello fellow people!

How was your Thanksgiving? I hope it was wonderful. 🙂

My family and I went to one of my friends house for Thanksgiving. My friends mom is an AMAZING cook. The stuffing was the bomb! After we finished eating dinner, we played a board game called “Blurt”. A definition to a word was read, then the different teams called out what they thought the word might be. (The girl team won.) 🙂

Then, the day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday), I got to go into work! I’ve never been Black Friday Shopping before. Let alone working it! The store where I work opened at midnight. I didn’t have to go in till 6am though. 🙂 It actually wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Sure it was crazy busy, but it came in waves.

After I got home from work on Black Friday, my mom and I got out our Christmas decorations!

Here is one section of our house that we decorated.

One of the things I love most about Christmas is the decorations. I really like fall decorations, but Christmas is my favorite. I also LOVE Christmas music. I am “that” person who listens to (and sings most of the time) Christmas songs in July. 🙂

What is your favorite season/holiday?

I also started making Christmas gifts! I really enjoy making gifts. I would love to share pictures of what I am making, but some of my friends are following this blog, and I don’t want to ruin the surprise. 🙂

What would you like for Christmas?

More Fun with Makeup!

Hey guys!

A few days ago I posted about the amazing art of makeup. Within that post, I added a picture that I had found on Pinterest of some Avenger inspired eye makeup. Well, the other day one of my friends and I actually sat down and did some of the looks on each other!

 Captain America

 Iron Man

 The Black Widow

We had SO much fun doing them! It took quite a bit of makeup remover to get it all off, but it was so totally worth it!

I’m not sure why, but I am really enjoying watching all of the Avenger movies. I’m not usually and action movie fan. Too much fighting, not enough (or any) story line. But the Avengers are different than most action movies. (Except for Thor, which, if it wasn’t for the fact that the main actor is kinda gorgeous, would be a kind of lame movie.)

What are some of your favorite movies? I am always on the look out for good movies to see. Please feel free to leave a comment!

Hope you all have an awesome beginning of your week!

Tiny Cards

Hey guys! Sorry I haven’t been on in a bit. It seams like the time is just flying on by! I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is exactly one week away!

What would you like to do for Thanksgiving? Note: I said what “would you like” to do for Thanksgiving. Not what “do” you do. Would you like to go to Disneyland? Go on a vacation to the snow? Stay at home in your PJs for a week? 🙂

So I started my new job about a week ago now! I am absolutely LOVING it! I will be working black Friday, so if any of you live in the Northern CA area, and like to go to the Galleria mall in Roseville, please feel free to stop by and say hi!

I’ve never gone black Friday shopping before, and now I will be working it! It should be very interesting. 🙂 I am very curious to see how I do. I’m usually not a night (or VERY early morning in this case) person. It should be fun! 🙂

Speaking of my job, there are two girls this week with birthdays. So I wanted to make them birthday cards. But what do you say to a person you’ve only know for a few days, and have only spoken to for a few minutes?

So I got the idea of making tiny cards!

I took a 3″ by 5″ note card, folded it in half, and turned it into a tiny birthday card! That way I don’t have to write too much in it, because there isn’t a whole lot of room. 🙂

And I think they turned out pretty cute!

I shall be pretty busy over the weekend, so I might not get a chance to post again till Monday. But I will be back!

Hope all you guys have a nice weekend! Bye! 🙂

Hey guys! How is your November going? Thanksgiving is just a few days away, and then . . . Christmas! HArd to believe that it’s that time of year again. Didn’t we just do these same holidays a few weeks ago?

As we’ve seen from previous posts, art can come in many shape and sizes (literally and figuratively). 🙂

So, I thought for todays post, we could focus on the beauty art of poetry!

The Road Not Taken

By Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

This ^ is one of the poems that I’ve memorized. My mom and I used to read a lot of poetry together. Every few weeks we would try and learn a new poem. The Road Not Taken, was one of the first poems we memorized. And to this day, I can still recite it from memory!

Not all poems are serious however. Here is a cute/fun one!

Bark Bark

By Karen Jo Shapiro

Bark, Bark! It’s dark!
I wake before it’s dawn,
while all the people in this house
sleep on and on and on.
I don’t know why they sleep so long –
I sing a little doggie song:
“Bark, Bark.” The park. Please walk me in the park.”
I lick their feet and jump on beds.
I nuzzle up beside their heads.
And when they open up their eyes,
I bark, “Get up! It’s time to rise!”
I personally have never been one to come up with the words for a poem, but I love to read, and recite poems.
What/who are some of your favorite poems/poets? I would love to hear about them!
Hope you guys are having a great day!

Art with Words

Most people have heard of calligraphy before. Basically, it’s the art of making letters pretty.

For example:

I had to borrow this picture from Pinterest because I personally have a very hard time with this particular style of writing. It’s a little to precise I think for my brain. Ha ha ha. 🙂

But there are other ways of making letters pretty! Some more ‘think outside of the box’ ones.

Here are some of mine. 🙂

I guess pretty isn’t the right word. Cool, fun, wild-and-crazy, would probably be better words to describe mine. 🙂

What I have done above ^ is called ‘letter art’.

A few years ago I was really into letter art. I haven’t really done much of it lately. But I found these pictures in one of my old sketch books and thought that they looks pretty cool!

It’s so cool how you can take something basic, like the alphabet, and turn it into art! Just by using some different colors, or different style or writing.

The Art of Makeup

Hello folks!

I don’t have any new art work for today, but I do want to share with you how cool playing with different styles of makeup can be!

I am currently working for a makeup/skin care/fragrance store. (My first day of “on the floor” training was yesterday. I “officially” start tomorrow! Even though it’s only seasonal, I am SO excited!!) And this morning I was thinking about different ways I can do my makeup to really make it pop. My mom go me this book called ‘Eye Candy’

(You can find this book on Amazon. Heres the link.)

There are some absolutely amazingly cool ideas of what to do with you eye makeup in this book! A lot of if is kind of over the top, but you can scale it down to look more “normal”. 🙂 And it’s cool cause it goes through step by step of what you need to do to create every look in the book. 🙂

I was also looking on Pinterest (the #1 place to go to for just about anything creative.) 🙂 And found some pretty cool stuff!

For you Avenger fans out there. 🙂

Obviously I wouldn’t actually wear any of those looks to work. But they just looked something to do for fun. 🙂

Isn’t it cool how makeup, is just another forum of art? Wether you are just doing your normal day time makeup.

Or you want to do something for an evening out.

Or if you just want to go all wild and crazy!

Did you know that makeup like the one above ^, is called “avant-garde”? It’s a French term used to refer to people or works that are experimental or innovative. Espally when related to with art and culture, and politics. (Copied from wiki. I knew what avant-garde meant, I just wasn’t sure how to word it. Yeah for wiki!) 🙂

Anyway, hope you found that little tin bit of info interesting! And I will see y’ll again in a day or two!

If you any thoughts on the art of makeup, please feel free to leave a post!
